The Navajo Begay family has been creating beautiful jewelry and homemade goods across three generations.  This particular vintage piece comes from M. Begay, and it features a fantastic and interesting setting.
 
It's a large ring, with a top setting measuring 1.6" long x .85" wide and weighing 11.4 grams, more than a third of an ounce.  We included a photo of the ring next to a 25 cent Washington quarter coin for visual perspective, so you can see how dynamic the setting is.
 
The band is a size 7.25, as measured on our own ring sizing mandrel.
 
The turquoise gemstone is a stunner, with vibrant color and natural striations giving it nice character.   We included a good closeup photo of the gem so you can see the geologic and color variation across the turquoise.
 
There is a fissure that runs across the stone, but it is not a crack and it does not vertically bisect the stone.  It's a surface fissure, which is common with large stones like this, but it does not extend vertically through the entire stone so there's no looseness or issue with the stone separating.
