Bellarri "Romantica" 18K Amethyst & Diamond

From the long-retired "Romantica" Collection, this ring is all about amethyst. It's a conservative style, compared to many Bellarri designs, but it's not subtle.

It starts with solid 18K yellow gold, and features a very tall setting that holds a big 7.40 carat princess-cut amethyst with serrated edges. The setting is designed so that the entire stone can be admired, right down to the culet, on all 4 sides - only the corners of the stone are hidden from view.

The amethyst itself is superb - while we can be prone to hyperbole from time to time (hey, we love what we do), it's not a stretch to say that this is one of the 3 or 4 best amethysts we've ever seen from Bellarri, in any piece. It displays the quintessential perfect color palette - deep purple, hot pink, electric violet, pastel pink, and hints of periwinkle. Where it really gets interesting is in the light refraction off the 18K setting underneath - the stone is so crystal clear and clean, and the cut so effective at pleasing light refraction, that the hues from the gold shine through and the amethyst actually glows an unusual mocha-purple color, almost like its flashing between amethyst and smoky quartz. It's hard to describe, but we captured hints of it in some of our photos.

The top setting measures .65" x .45, but more importantly it rises a full half-inch up off the finger to fully display the amethyst. If you require your rings to be petite, this one isn't for you. The ring is a size 7.25, and sizing is available.
